Motormaniac project preview

Bringing an editorial automotive experience to mobile

Motormaniac is a lifestyle platform centred around motorcycles, travel, and culture. This project focused on designing a mobile-first experience that translated the richness of the existing website into an interface that felt intuitive, engaging, and effortless to navigate on smaller screens.

A desktop experience doesn't always translate to mobile

While the original platform offered visually rich content and product discovery, its structure required refinement for handheld devices. Navigation, spacing, and browsing patterns needed to be rethought to better support touch interactions and improve usability without losing the brand's distinctive character.

Adapting content through a mobile-first lens

The design process began by analysing the existing web experience and identifying opportunities to simplify key user journeys for mobile users. Layouts, navigation patterns, and interface components were restructured with an emphasis on responsiveness, readability, and intuitive interaction. Each screen was carefully refined to preserve the platform's editorial feel while improving usability across smaller viewports.

Balancing familiarity with usability

The primary challenge was maintaining visual consistency with the existing platform while optimising the experience for mobile devices. Rather than recreating the interface, the focus was on thoughtfully adapting its structure and interactions so users could browse content and explore products with greater ease, without losing the essence of the original design.

A seamless experience across screen sizes

The final design delivered a responsive mobile experience that retained Motormaniac's visual identity while improving accessibility and navigation for touch-based interactions. By simplifying layouts and refining user flows, the interface became better suited for on-the-go browsing without compromising the platform's premium editorial aesthetic.
